Spares forecasting: A commercial aviation perspective on value chain maturity and best practices
With global prosperity coming back, the commercial airlines and aerospace and defence industry see the demand to develop adequate demand forecast information to end up with an inventory and manufacturing capacity which meet the demand of predictable and unexpected maintenance within the Supply Chain for the Aerospace and Defence Industry.
This paper is based on an industry survey, representing OEMs, airline operators and 3rd party MRO and all facets of the Spares work-stream. The outcomes of the survey provide recommendations to companies of how to improve the flow of information for reducing lead times on aircraft parts and turnaround times, to reduce spares inventories across the value chain, to define indicator for future demand signals for repairs and spares.
