Tax considerations of cross-border
Retailers need to consider indirect tax risks
Indirect taxes are famously hard to track. Retailers, with their longtime domestic focus, are even less equipped to track indirect taxes – especially on the sell side – than are CPG companies, which for decades have had to manage international supply chains.
Integrating indirect tax considerations into larger strategic discussions can make these costs easier to manage. A company should establish a dedicated indirect tax team to ensure that indirect taxes have visibility to key decision makers.
